Honouring Nurses at Westminster Abbey: EWS Attend Florence Nightingale Commemoration

On International Nurses Day 2025, Ethical Workforce Solutions was honoured to attend the Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service at Westminster Abbey — a national celebration of the legacy, compassion, and contribution of nurses past and present.

Representing the team at this special event were Ashley Nelson (Managing Director) and Nettie Thomas (Director of Learning and Development), who joined fellow healthcare professionals from across the UK to mark the occasion.

Hosted by the Florence Nightingale Foundation, this annual service is a deeply moving moment in the healthcare calendar. Set within the historic halls of Westminster Abbey, the ceremony reflects on the history of nursing and midwifery, while shining a light on the challenges, resilience, and achievements of those working on the front line today.

“Attending this national service was a truly humbling experience,” said Nettie Thomas.
“Nurses are the heart of healthcare, not just in hospitals, but in every part of our communities. On International Nurses Day, it’s an honour to stand alongside colleagues to celebrate their dedication and to renew our commitment to supporting them in meaningful and ethical ways.”
