Our Fully Funded 5 Day Social Care Course Returns This January

We are very happy to share that our fully funded Get Ready for Social Care course is returning to Colwyn Bay in January 2026. Our last group of learners in October brought so much enthusiasm, teamwork and genuine care for one another, and it was inspiring to watch their confidence grow throughout the week.

Delivered in partnership with Conwy Employment Hub and funded by the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund, this course offers Conwy residents a friendly and practical introduction to working in health and social care. It is designed to help people try out real care tasks, build essential skills and take their first steps into a meaningful career.

Our October course began with learners who were unsure of what to expect, but by the end of the week many described feeling more confident, more capable and more excited about their future.

The group took part in practical Moving and Handling training, working closely with our experienced trainers to understand safe, person centred techniques. This hands on experience helped people see what care work is really like and gave them skills they can use straight away.

One of the highlights of the week was a visit from Amelia, Care Home Manager at The Old Vicarage Care Home in Llangollen. She was joined by residents Sally and Robina, who helped lead a mock group interview. They asked real questions, shared their own stories and made the day feel warm, honest and full of laughter. Learners said it was one of the most valuable parts of the week because it helped them understand what matters most to the people they may one day support.

We also welcomed Home Instead and other partners who came to speak to the learners about real job opportunities in the area. For many people, this was the moment they realised they were ready to take their next step.

The week ended with a small celebration where learners collected their certificates and were cheered on by everyone in the room. For them, this was not the end but the beginning, with guaranteed interviews arranged with local employers.
