This Immediate Life Support (ILS) course is ideal for all staff in Mental Health support settings who may require this for compliance, as well staffing agencies supplying to the NHS where it is now becoming a more regulatory requirement to remain on, or join, a framework for supply.

Course Length. 1 day (7 hours of CPD)

Introduction

Immediate Life Support (ILS) training is now a requirement on many NHS and council frameworks.  This training is ideal for mental health support workers, RMNs, RGNs and NHS hospital workers where BLS needs to be taken to the next stage.

Course Contents

Immediate Life Support (ILS) Practical Training – 1 day training delivered in line with the current Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines and delivered by trainers who have completed BLS, ILS and ALS training.

“Human Factors”
Causes and Prevention of Cardiac Arrest
“The Chain of Survival” and “The Chain of Prevention”
The ABCDE Approach
Airway Management, including Choking and Recovery Position
Management of the Non-Breathing Person, including use of various Airway Adjuncts (Oro-Pharyngeal, Naso-Pharyngeal and I-Gels) and Bag-Valve Mask
High Quality Chest Compressions
Defibrillation
Sepsis Awareness and Management
Anaphylaxis Recognition and Management

This training is completed using a wide range of practical manikins, airway adjuncts, airway valves, AEDs, and bag valve masks.  It includes practical simulated competency and paperwork detailing practical simulated competency.

Course Outcomes

Successful completion of this training course will result in the award of a CPD accredited certificate covering all aspects of the above course contents.
