This practical nail care course is ideal for care and nursing staff with the responsibility of ensuring this fundamental care area is maintained.
Course Length. 3.5 hours
Introduction
Looking after our feet and nails is essential for everybody. Service users with limited physical or cognitive ability may require assistance from care givers to ensure this vital area of care is provided. With practical simulations and model feet and hands, this course gives care givers the essential knowledge and skills to identify problems before they arise as well as allow practice in cutting and shaping nails safely.
Course Contents
Health and safety considerations, including PPE and sanitisation of equipment
Gaining client consent
Contraindications that may affect the viability of foot and nail care (eg. diabetes, certain medications, infections)
Common skin disorders affecting the hands and feet
Anatomy of the nail structure
Areas of the nail that can and can’t be treated without specialist input
Practical simulated nail cutting users manikins and standard recommended equipment
Course Outcomes
Successful completion of this training course will result in the award of a CPD accredited certificate covering all aspects of the above course contents.
