Pressure injuries cost the NHS around £2.2 billion per year (2024 figures).  In most cases, these are preventable through risk assessment, care planning and staff due diligence.  This half day course explores the potential causes, prevention techniques and treatments and is suitable for Health Care Assistants and Registered Nurses.

Defining tissue viability in relation to pressure ulcers
Anatomy and physiology of the skin
Responsibilities, legislation and best practice sources
Pressure area identification
Pressure ulcer grading
Pressure ulcer prevention (inc. risk assessment (eg. Waterlow) and the SSKIN model)
Identifying pressure ulcers
Pressure ulcer treatments

Course Outcomes

Successful completion of this training course will result in the award of a CPD accredited certificate covering all aspects of the above course contents.
